If you have a website, odds are you want to have people not only visit your site but perform some sort of task whilst they are there, like purchase a product or service you are providing. In order to do that, you have probably done some sort of marketing and advertising. If you’re smart, you’ve probably done some optimising of your website for SEO in order to make sure you get traffic to your site and are doing some analysis of your website to see just how well you’re doing in terms of traffic and conversions and such. If you are, take a close look at it. Just how well is your conversion rate? Are you getting the numbers you want? Are you getting more people visiting than are actually converting into customers or whatever? Can your conversion rate be better? Actually, it probably can always be better, right? Everyone would like to have better conversion rates. So what can you do to improve your website’s conversion rate? There are a variety of things that can be done to improve the conversion rate. Here are five of them for you to consider trying.
1. A/B Testing
One way is to do A/B testing. It’s not all that hard. With A/B testing, or split testing, you try out two different versions of a website and see which one performs better. The one that gets more conversions is the “winner”. The changes between the two sites can be many or few. The main things to test are headlines, page layout and navigation, the offer, the size of order buttons and call to action wording, different media, and any radical changes. You can run more than one test at a time, too.
Include testimonials and positive reviews. If visitors see other people saying good things about your company or your product or service, they will be more inclined to trust you and will likely purchase from you (and your conversion rate will increase). Don’t put testimonials all on one page, either. Spread them out and put them next to your products. You can also try offering a guarantee.
Follow the K.I.S.S. method and keep it simple. Avoid going overboard and having a flamboyant and flashy design to your website. Sure, it might catch someone’s attention, but it will grow old quickly. People like simple designs that make it easy for them to read what you’ve put there for them and to find what they’re looking for. If it’s too hard for them to understand what you want from them or to find and purchase what they want, they’ll leave.
Give them an incentive to purchase from you. Provide some sense of urgency to make them want to take immediate action. Perhaps make it seem like there’s a scarcity (“only 2 left!”) or there’s limited time (“last day!”). But keep it honest and authentic. Don’t lie to them. If it’s a fake scarcity, they’ll know and they’ll lose their trust in you will.
5. Customer Service
Provide great customer service. Address any issues or complaints and any bad reviews head on and do it quickly. Good customer service will increase trust and also earn you good word of mouth online, which can lead to more traffic and conversions.
