How To Monetize Your YouTube Channel

It’s no secret that YouTube is one of the most popular social sites on the internet right now. People love going there to watch all sorts of videos, from TV shows and music videos to funny cat videos and how-to videos, and more. It’s also a great way for people, and especially businesses, to market themselves and reach a wider audience. Some people might not be aware of this, but YouTube can also make you money as well as making you internet famous. It might not make you a ton of money unless you get lucky and have an extremely viral video, but you can still make a little money. So, how does someone go about monetizing their YouTube channel?

1. Channel

First of all, you will need to set up your YouTube channel. Make sure you have it optimized as best you can, including for keyword searches, and that keywords relate to your content. Make the channel’s appearance looks great and that it’s informative since your channel’s homepage will be what visitors see first. Don’t forget to include links to your website, blog, etc. Your user name should be short, memorable, and original. To start monetizing your channel, find the opt-in option for AdSense. Agree to the terms and conditions, sign up for the AdSense program, and set your monetization preferences.

2. Content

Add your video content. Videos should be of as a high quality as possible so they look and sound great. They should also not be exceeding long, or viewers may lose interest. Make sure your video title, caption, and tags are all keyword rich.

3. Audience

Find and grow your audience. This is key to getting money from your channel. Once your channel has 10,000 views, your AdSense application will be reviewed. If it meets the requirements, ads will be placed with your videos. So grow your audience so you can reach the 10,000 view threshold and get paid for running ads with your videos. Generate traffic to your channel. Post as much great content as you can. Share links on social media, post the videos on your blog or website. Engage with viewers who comment on your videos. The more traffic and ratings you get, the better your videos will show up in searches.

4. Analytics

Once you’ve got monetization going on your channel and your Google AdSense account set up, you will get paid per ad click and get paid a little per view. You won’t be making much (unless you get lucky with an extremely popular video). Just give it some time and keep trying to grow your audience. Also be sure to keep an eye on the analytics of your channel. The analytics option in your channel menu will let you see your estimated earnings, ad performance, video views, demographics, and more. This will let you know what you might need to tweak to better your performance.

5. YouTube Partner

If you do well enough, you may become eligible to become a YouTube Partner. These people can access advanced content creation tools, win prizes, and access greater community support and tips, which can help you do better.

6. Patreon

This is sort of like crowd funding for content creators. They make a pledge to and pay content creators each time they release new content.

7. Brand sponsorships

Another way to make money with your YouTube channel is to get sponsors, either from brands or elsewhere. Many brands like to use YouTubers to help them market their products and will happily pay to do it. One place to start is Grapevine.
